The Next Generation

Ted Cannon and Jim Seely built the Cannon Specials.  These were so called 'California Specials' that were rooted in the Hot Rod culture.  Both of them competed on the dry lakes before and after the war.  They rode motorcycles, (without rear suspension), in desert races.   Rick Cannon and Dave Seely are the next generation to campaign these, now, vintage race cars.

Pal's Going Racing

Jim had just finished his time as a pilot in the military flying Lockheed P-38's, and Ted had worked at Lockheed.  They were members of the Throttlers Hot Rod club of North Hollywood.  The seeds of the SCTA were planted here, with Ted building the first set of clocks used at the dry lakes.

It Continues

We are the next generation to race these cars.  Rick Cannon (standing on the left) and Dave Seely (in the drivers seat) have restored and raced these family treasures for decades now.  That's Rick's son Baron on the right.  We have shown this car at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance twice now.  The cars that you find on this website represent some of the restorations that we have done.

We found enough interest in this small community of vintage racers over the decades that we outgrew our garages and started Acme to use our skills to serve the vintage racing community.
